Chiropractic and pregnancy – a perfect match!
The pelvic is made up of three joints: the pubic symphysis at the front and 2 sacroiliac (si) joints at the back.
Together these joints form a ring ( the birth canal) of which many muscles and ligaments attach.
Chiropractic ensures that these joints are moving properly and that the pelvis is balanced, so that you are as comfortable as possible and that the baby has the most amount of space.
Chiropractic and ligament tension in pregnancy
Pelvis alignment during pregnancy is essential; for comfort, room for baby to move and eventually descend through the birth canal, and for proper firing of muscles, via a clear nervous system.
Pelvic girdle pain, ligament pain and/or lower back pain are common during pregnancy, but not normal.
If your pelvis isn’t positioned optimally it can cause a torsion of the ligament attachments from the uterus to the front of the pelvis and the sacrum (tailbone). So you can appreciate how misalignments of the pelvis can add tension to these ligaments, cause pain; and less “room” for baby.
Chiropractic, and more specifically, the webster technique is a sacral analysis and adjustment that restores alignment to the pelvis, its ligament attachments and surrounding muscles.
Don’t suffer needlessly. Get adjusted!
Chiropractic adjustments are gentle, specific; and tailored to the person.
