SPINAL GALANT - Retained Primitive Reflex Integration Home Exercises.
Join Chiropractor Karli Plowright of Nomad Chiropractic in Mosman, NSW as she takes you through some options for home exercises that may help you/you child to integrate the retained primitive reflex; which could significantly improve the related symptoms or signs.
STEPS:
1. SNOW ANGEL
- Lie on the ground with legs together and arms by your side - palms down.
- Slowly OPEN out legs and arms like you would when doing a snow angel.
- Key is to be slow and controlled; and
- Arms and legs move in unison. "
- Slowly CLOSE arms and legs back to original position
- Repeat
2. BACK TICKLES - assisted
- Child to go on to all 4s
* hips over keens/ shoulders over hands / head in alignment with spine
- Assistant to trace gentle pressure down one side of the spine;
- Repeat on the other side;
- Repeat! Note: preferably do this on bare skin.
- aim is to maintain position, stiff as a board, with no reflex movements
3. SIDE CRUNCH - assisted.
- Child lying on their side
- Try to reach hip and shoulder together in a side crunch.
- Lift neck laterally, ear toward shoulder, as well;
- Assistant to over exaggerate the posture - bringing shoulder and hip toward each other.
- Hold for 10 seconds
- Relax position
* Assistant to over exaggerate the opposite posture. ie. gentle pressure of shoulder and hip away from each other.
- Repeat
- Roll over and Repeat on opposite side as well
AND REPEAT!
