DO YOU HAVE A WINDY BABY?
Join Chiropractor Karli Plowright as she demonstrates a few techniques that might help!.
Disclosure: this advice is general only and is not specific to you and your child. Please also note Karli is using a doll with rigid legs and a padded body so the techniques will vary a little bit when on an actual baby.
1) BICYCLE LEGS
- Lie bubba on their back and gently motion their legs in a bicycle motion. Alternating between left and right (Note: the rigid legs/soft body of this doll. This is meant to be a gentle and smooth motion)
2) TUMMY MASSAGE
- Gently press/massage your baby's tummy in a. clockwise motion
3) FOOTBALL HOLDS
- Carefully hold your baby in your arms face downward (like you would a football)
We hope these might help!
If your windy Bub continues it's recommended that you check in with your IBCLC lactation consultant, paediatrician, paediatric nurse, chirorpactor/osteopath/physio, naturopath etc for more help! There's many reasons for a windy Bub from breast-feeding latch; through to food intolerances; and more. It could even just be a normal lifestage/newborn developing intestinal system.. if you're at all concerned please don't hesitate to check in with your local health professionals!
